haiku for spring

pink geraniums
glow in the late afternoon light
a robin on the rail

the buds came first
 of course

this shot was taken a few days ago

haiku - middle march

 middle  March
blizzard winds howl ~
a snowball bush blooms

we are having our third nor'easter
in as many weeks
the birds are anxious for spring
and so am I

small things

more practice with my macro lens
I am finding it harder than I thought
the first two shots were hand held
I used my tripod for the others
the canadian goose is about an inch and half tall
our daughter bought it from a street vendor
in Quebec City, while on a class trip

this pair of carvings are also from Quebec
they are about two and a half inches tall
we bought these just across the border in Armstrong
in the early sevenities

my father in law was a woodworker and basket maker
most of his baskets sets were large
this one is only an inch tall
I think he wanted to see if he could do it,
you can see he did!

this shaker box is even smaller
it is just over three quarters of an inch tall
I got a bit closer on this piece

that is it for now
more after I
finish the Macro for Dummies book
and get more practice
