if the woolly bear theory is right, we will have a mild winter

autumn colors haiku

I have never seen so many asters as we have in Maine this fall,
especially the deep purple New England asters.
I have grown them in my garden,
asters really look best in the wild.

along the dump road
purple and pink asters grow
scarlet maples flare

summer memory

this is a photo taken
of my old garden
when I lived in the country
my brother in law
made my garden tower
many years ago
i painted it antique blue
but loved it even more
when it was weathered,
and covered in lichen
the field behind the garden
was full of wildflowers
some natural, and some
added by me over the years
when I lived there,
i had a winding path leading
from the garden into
the woods
the dark at the top of
the photo is the edge of the woods
i don't miss my old house
i do miss the garden and the field!

wind in the clouds

the clouds are better some days than others
this past Monday was a very good day
my first view of the day
was a buildup near the ground
the ocean is off in this direction
quite often, clouds stack up near along the shore

this was taken higher in the sky
the various layers of clouds were moving at different speeds
the closer white ones were flying

two watering cans?
I have an imagination!

I spotted a couple of hawks
playing in the currents
while I was out shooting
just missed getting one of
them in this shot

winter work

This is what I am working on now.
It will go on the wall in my sewing room when it is done.
I am thinking about gardening, but it is way too early here to do
anything but start clippings from last year's pink geranium.

The obedience plants above came to me in the mail
 from my, Kerri.
I love them, and so do the bees.

Poppies are another favorite.
I like the way they start in
the garden but end up everywhere.

ghost tree

this is an old shot of a maple that I have admired
for the past 40 plus years
I found out yesterday
that it is gone
thanks to Google maps
it was beautiful in every season
sad to think that it ended up
as firewood,
I guess that is is how life is
the crow is
still around
I am glad to say
