I have long considered the creative impulse to be a visit-a thing of grace perhaps. Not commanded, owned, so much as awaited, prepared for. A thing, also, of mystery.

fragment of a sundog

I love a wind tossed sky.
This is one of many photos I took one day last week
I did not see the sundog fragment when I took the shot.
My camera and lens did.

Did you know that cirrus clouds show up before nice weather?

a frosty morning

We had our first frost last night.
It was the first one we have had in September in a long while.

The backyard was quite frosty.
A few of the flowers in the front of the house got hit.
The pumpkin on the front steps did not.

A busy bee in Maine

Frost tonight in the mountains.
We still have a week or two of flowers
here in southern Maine.
The bees are making the most of it.

daisy fleabane

I like this small daisy-like flower.
You can tell it is part of the aster family just by looking.
Fleabane is soft to touch, unlike asters.
We have both white and purple plants
growing along our road.

rain on cedar

We had rain this morning.
The cedar deck looked like this.
I love textures.
This shot has two,
wood grain and the rain drop pattern.

rose of sharon

Rose of Sharon bushes remind me of my mom.
She had one with pink flowers when I was young.
When I took these photos yesterday, the sky was dark and cloudy.
I wasn't expecting the background to come out so well.
 I like it!
